CIS Distinguished Diplomacy Issues Briefing
Wednesday, April 9, 2014 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM

The American relationship with Taiwan is of increasing importance to US foreign policy at a time of Beijing’s increasing assertiveness in the East and South China seas and of significant commercial importance to the success of the Trans-Pacific Partnership in the years to come.

Please join us for the viewing of a videoconference between Taiwan’s president, Mr. Ma Ying-jeou, and the Center for Strategic & International Studies in Washington DC. A local panel discussion will follow with former US Ambassador Christopher Ashby, Director General Mr. Steve C.C. Hsia (Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Houston), and Dr. Hans Stockton (director of the Center for International Studies at the UST). Dinner is courtesy of TECO and the CIS.
