The University of St. Thomas women's basketball team
played well at home most of this season, but poor shooting and rebounding contributed to a 93-51 loss to a top-ranked Louisiana State University-Shreveport on Feb. 23.
In their final home game of the season, the Celts were led by Her'shiira Boone-Rodgers
with 12 points and five assists.
"That was a disappointing way to send our seniors out," said Head Coach Mike Ricks.
Ricks said the Celts shot for 25 percent and gave up 22 offensive rebounds. LSU-Shreveport is ranked third in the Red River Athletic Conference
and is on a four-game winning streak.
Next up for the Celts is a road contest against Wiley College on Feb. 25 to wrap up the regular season. Then, UST is off to Waxahachie, Texas, for the Red River Athletic Conference Tournament. The Celts will most likely match up against LSU-Shreveport.
"We will look at the mistakes we made, and work really hard to make sure the result is different next time out," Ricks said.
