Andrew Crane to Head the Celts Athletic Training Department
7/31/2014

The University of St. Thomas has gained a valuable asset in the form of Athletic Trainer Andrew Crane. Hailing from Pearland High School, the newest addition to the Celts brings a wealth of experience to the athletic program.

Crane completed his undergraduate degree at Texas State University with a Bachelor of Science in athletic training and a minor in sports psychology. While attending Texas State, he earned the opportunity to intern with the Houston Texans during the summers of 2008 & 2009. As he completed his master’s in Physical Education at the University of Houston, he worked as a graduate assistant for the Cougar football team. For the past two years, Crane has been a full-time intern for the Houston Texans.

His achievements include earning an award for most outstanding student in a master’s program at the University of Houston and being selected as the trainer to represent the South All-Star team of the Continental Baseball League while working for the Bay Area Toros. The team won the championship that year. Crane was also a member of the 2013 Professional Football Athletic Trainers Society Athletic Training Staff of the Year.

“I am excited to begin working with St. Thomas athletics,” Crane said. “I know we are growing program, with the addition of women’s soccer and recent success of men’s soccer and basketball, and that is part of what drew me here. I want to provide the best sports medicine possible and keep the athletes on the field and healthy.”
