Balanced Scoring Leads Celts to 78-37 Victory
The Celts Men’s Basketball Squad hit the floor Wednesday, Jan. 12, against Northern New Mexico College eager to reclaim their winning streak. Led by Anthony Medina’s 18 points, the Celts posted a 78-37 win. Balanced scoring and defense paved the way to victory.

Thirteen Celts scored at least two points, and two players scores came to double figures -- Medina with 18 and Henoc Jeans with 10. Jeremy Lewis and Melvin Roberts chipped in with 8 points each. The balanced scoring was a by product of the balance in minutes played. Eleven Celts played over 12 minutes.

After giving up 73 and 74 points in their last two games, the Celts needed to get back to their pressure defense. In the first half, the goal for the game was to play lock down defense. The Celts held the Eagles to just 14 points in the first half and followed that up with just 23 in the second half. They held the Eagle’s to 25 percent shooting from the field for the game and 17 percent from three point range.

The Celts run their season record to 8-9 on the season. Now the Celts hit the road for three straight games against Arlington Baptist College, St Mary’s University and Hutson-Tillotson University before returning home to play at 3 p.m. Feb. 5, against the University of New Orleans.
