UST Alumni Association Awards $23,000 in Student Scholarships

Photo: Alumni Scholarship Recipients The University of St. Thomas Alumni Association has awarded their annual scholarship to eight students for the 2011-2012 academic year totaling $23,000.

In the fall, Dena Andrade, Kristine Urrutia and Chelsea Johnson will each receive the highest-level $5,000 scholarship, Maria Puente and Helen Rios will receive $2,650 and Samantha Perez, Andrew Zovath and Langston Johnson will receive $1,000.

The UST Alumni Association Award assists sophomores and juniors who possess the scholastic merit and willingness to continue their education, but have encountered substantial financial difficulty completing their degree. To apply, students must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average, maintain full-time student status by taking at least 12 credit hours, obtain a letter of recommendation from a UST faculty member and submit an essay.

The UST Alumni Association is dedicated to serving alumni interests and strengthening their connection to the University. It is committed to the preservation of the University’s mission of creating dialogue between faith and reason, especially through scholarship, service and dedication to the core values of goodness, discipline and knowledge. All persons who have attended UST, regardless of the length of study, are identified as alumni and are lifetime members.
