Celts Name Noble New Head Volleyball Coach
Logo: Celt Lion LogoThe search is over. Kallie Noble has been named the new head volleyball coach for the University of St. Thomas.
Noble will make her mark as a first-year head coach after serving as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Tulane University for the last three seasons. While at Tulane, Noble helped the squad qualify for the 2009 NCAA Tournament and had five players receive All-Conference CUSA honors in the last three seasons, among other player accolades.
“Coach Noble was the person I wanted to lead this program from the moment we spoke," said UST Director of Athletics Todd Smith. "Her experience and volleyball background has prepared her well for this position. Our volleyball team has been extremely successful, and I believe Coach Noble will build on that success. She will fit in very well with our Athletic Department and the UST community.”
The Lady Celts team completed its sixth year as a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics. Within the last two years, the Lady Celts had numerous accomplishments, including a school record of 24 wins in 2010 and four players named to the All-Conference Team. Former coach Trent Herman is now the volleyball head coach at Houston Baptist University.
“I am very excited to be joining the St. Thomas family," Noble said. "I would like to thank President Robert Ivany and Athletic Director Todd Smith for giving me the opportunity to start my head coaching career. I am looking forward to leading a great group of girls at an elite institution."
Noble's primary responsibilities at Tulane included recruiting coordination, community service projects and alumni relations. Noble collaborated with the Office of Athletic Academics on behalf of the staff. She also maintained the team's academic progress by helping earn the American Volleyball Coaches Association's Team Academic Award in 2009. The award recognizes teams with a cumulative GPA of 3.30 for the academic year.
On the court, Noble worked with Tulane setters and implemented team practice plans. For UST, Noble will act as the Athletic Department’s Sports Information Director along with her head coaching duties.
Noble has also coached at Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, Tenn., and was the assistant coach at the University of New Orleans in 2007.
Originally from Peru, Indiana, Noble received her bachelor's degree in music and elementary education from Western Michigan University in December 2003, and earned a master's degree in education and counseling from Lincoln Memorial University in May 2008.
Noble begins her first day of work on June 15 preparing for the first Lady Celt volleyball scrimmage, on Aug. 17.
