Business Alumni Share Experiences in CSB Alumni Week
2/26/2014

The Cameron School of Business at University of St. Thomas will host Alumni Week on Feb. 24-28. UST students will have the opportunity to learn from alumni about their work and experiences that will hopefully encourage them to integrate their experiences at UST with their future careers. The week also will include an alumni panel, “Exemplars of Faith and Character,”  and presentation of the Distinguished Alumnus Award on Feb. 28 at 6:30 p.m. in Scanlan Room, Jerabeck Center, 4000 Mt. Vernon St.

Throughout the week, alumni speakers will visit various classes to interact with current students in the classrooms and share their professional experiences and insight.

Dr. Beena George, dean of the Cameron School of Business, and members of the CSB Alumni Board selected alumni Marylyn Harris, Karen Yale and Antonio Zamarripa to be the guest speakers for the Alumni Week panel.

Marylyn Harris, MBA ’07, is the president and CEO of Harrland Healthcare Consulting, LLC, and vice chairman of the SBA Advisory Committee on Veterans Business Affairs. She is a former Army nurse and disabled war veteran who founded the nation’s first and only Women Veterans Business Center in Houston and was honored by the White House as a Champion of Change.

Karen Yale, MBA ’05, is the director of administrative services at El Paso Energy and vice president of nominations of the CSB Alumni Board.

Antonio Zamarripa, MBA ’11, is vice president of BBVA Compass’ Commercial Banking group. He was named “Young Executive of the Year” by the Camara de Empresarios Lations de Houston, an organization that supports entrepreneurs from Latin America.

The business school with the CSB Alumni Board decided on having the alumni week panel to feature successful alumni who can share how their experiences at UST have helped them to be leaders of faith and character in their current work.

Following the panel will be the presentation of the Distinguished Alumnus Award to a CSB alumnus who has demonstrated meritorious service to the business school and the University, notable career achievements and significant contributions to the company and community.
