Celts Take Down No. 4 Ranked Texas Wesleyan
1/3/2011
Previously undefeated Texas Wesleyan came to UST's Jarebeck Athletic Center on Dec. 30 looking to build on their perfect record. Instead, Wesleyan ran into a motivated and determined Celts team. The No. 4 nationally ranked Rams saw their 11- game win streak come to an end as the Celts continued their streak to four consecutive wins with a 72-64 win.

Texas Wesleyan outshot the Celts 40 -37 percent and led in rebounds 48-44. The Celts were aggressive with the ball getting to the free throw line 37 times. The Celts outscored the Rams 22-9 at the line.

Another strong key to the game for the Celts was their swarming team defense. The Celts forced 15 turnovers from the Rams that helped lead to easy points at the other end of the floor.

The Celts were led in scoring by Jeremy Lewis who went 6-for-14 from long range and finished with a game-high 30 points. Caleb Williams added 11 points and 8 rebounds off the bench. Williams’ gave the Celts a much needed inside presence and energy boost.

The Celts will put its four game winning streak on the line when they return to action Monday, January 3, when they take on St. Edward’s University. The game is set for a 7:00pm start at the Jarebeck Athletic Center.
