WBB Celts Need to Start Fast in Dallas

The Celts are using the matchup as an opportunity to correct some of the mistakes made when their four-game winning streak was snapped on Jan. 10 in a 75-70 loss at Langston University.

The Celts had a slow start trailing by as many as 11 points. The team battled its way back to tie it up at 39-39 heading into the locker room at halftime. The Celts jumped around by 6 points at the start of the half before Langston had a run to take the lead for good.

"We fought hard, but we can't start slow, especially on the road,” said Head Coach Mike Ricks. “Langston is too good, and this is too tough a place to play not to compete for 40 minutes."

Ricks said he also was not pleased with his own performance.

"It's my job to make sure we avoid slow starts,” Ricks said. “I wasn't very happy with how I managed the game when we did have a lead. It's all part of the process though. We've talked about that from day one. Stick with the process, and we will be pleased with the end result."

The team is looking for a win in Dallas to gain momentum because the rest of its season is conference opponents. The Celts are currently fifth in the Red River Athletic Conference. The team is 5-4 in the RRAC and 8-8 overall.
