| Mock Trial Team Members Recognized at Championship |
The University of St. Thomas Mock Trial team returned from the American Mock Trial Association Opening Round Championship held in Memphis with their heads held high.
While the team did not receive an invitation to the National Championship Tournament in Minneapolis, they did receive accolades for their exceptional performance.
“We are very proud of the fact that year after year, St. Thomas prepares an impressive team that competes on a national level,” UST President Dr. Robert Ivany said. “I wish every member the very best and look forward to their continued success in and out of the courtroom.”
Selby Jarvis, senior political science major and pre-law student, won a Best Witness award for her expert testimony and Teniola Adeyemi, senior political science major and pre-law student, received special acknowledgment from one judge for delivering a blistering cross-examination of a Portland State University witness.
“We were able to bring many different personalities together to produce a team that was able to stand on par with and excel beyond teams from much larger schools,” Adyemi said. “I am very proud of what we were able to accomplish.”
Having advanced to the second stage of the American Mock Trial Association annual competition for the third time in four years, the Mock Trial team continues to affirm the strength of the of UST’s Pre-Law program.
