| Music Hosts Chanticleer Master Class |
The UST Music Department will host a master class with Grammy Award-winning vocal group Chanticleer, sponsored by the Houston Friends of Chamber Music on Wednesday, March 7 at 1-2 p.m. in Cullen Hall.
Chanticleer, the renowned 12-member male vocal ensemble will coach two groups: UST’s University Singers, directed by Dr. Brady Knapp and Ms. Courtney Daniell-Knapp, and The High School for the Performing and Visual Arts Madrigal Singers, directed by HSPVA’s Dr. Richard Robbins.
In the master class setting, the University Singers and the Madrigal Singers will perform, and the Chanticleer members will provide notes and comments on their performance techniques. It is an opportunity for students to study with professionals in their field who are known for their success and their artistry.
The University Singers will perform early period music, and the HSPVA Madrigal Singers, also an a capella vocal ensemble, will perform Madrigal period music, including medieval and renaissance.
The event is free and open to the public. Contact Ann Candler Harlan for more information 713-525-3159.
