| UST Joins Bike Share Program |
University of St. Thomas has joined forces with Houston B-cycle, a bike-sharing program with locations around downtown and the surrounding neighborhoods.
For students who don’t have cars, the bike share offers an additional means of transportation.
Membership rates range from $5 for a 24-hour membership to $65 for a one-year membership. After purchasing the membership, the first hour of each ride is free. Each additional half hour will result in a $2 charge. The free hour of use is renewed each time the bike is checked in. Only the 24-hour memberships may be purchased at B-cycle stations, but all membership options are available online. Credit cards are currently the only accepted form of payment.
Each bike boasts an onboard B-cycle computer that allows members to track the number of miles ridden, the calories burned and the carbon emissions avoided.
The UST B-station is located at 4100 Montrose Blvd., in front of the Freed-Montrose Neighborhood Library.
