| Basketball Wins in Home Openers |
The University of St. Thomas men’s and women’s basketball teams won their first games at home on Nov. 1 in Jerabeck Gym. With the Celt crowd behind them, both teams sailed to victory with high scoring and aggressive rebounding.
The men’s basketball team
won against Northwood University 91-49. The Celts scoring leader was sophomore Deric Dudley with 16 points, and senior point guard Travis Lampley chipped in 11 points and nine assists.
The team had two other players in double figures. Caleb Williams had 14 points and nine rebounds, and Adrian Morales scored 11 points. The Celts out-rebounded the Knights 53-28, and the team shot 53 percent from the floor and finished with 22 assists.
The St. Thomas women’s basketball team
beat Dallas Christian College 75-32. Freshman Maghen Lormand led the Celts with 21 points and nine rebounds. Senior Amber Arceneaux-Francis
had a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds. The win improved UST to 2-1 on the season.
The men will play
Rice University at 7 p.m. on Nov. 10 at Tudor Fieldhouse on the Rice campus, 6100 Main Street. Tickets are $15
and the password is STTHOMAS. A block of seats are reserved for UST. Also, alumni, staff and students are invited to bring food and drinks and gather at 5 p.m. before the game in the Rice Stadium parking lot. Look for the UST Alumni tent.
The women will play
their first conference matchup against Jarvis Christian College at 3:30 p.m. on Nov. 12 in Jerabeck Gym. The game will be broadcast live at www.psnsports.com
