UST Bids Fond Farewell to Drs. Barry Wilbratte, Paul Hahn
4/15/2011
The University of St. Thomas will bid a fond farewell to two members of the faculty at a retirement party for Dr. Barry Wilbratte and Dr. Paul Hahn from 3-5 p.m., Wednesday, April 20, in the Little Gallery, 3907 Yoakum.

Wilbratte, associate dean of the Cameron School of Business, has spent more than half of his life teaching at UST. This year, he celebrated 40 years of service to the University. When the Cameron School of Business was formed in 1978, he played a key role in the formation of the MBA program. Currently a professor of economics, finance and decision information sciences, he has served in numerous capacities including department chair and associate dean to three consecutive Cameron School of Business deans. Wilbratte received the 2010 Joseph M. McFadden Excellence in Service Award. He was the first to teach an evening course at UST, and the first to teach an MBA course. He has been instrumental in helping the Cameron School work toward their goal of obtaining AACSB accreditation. Wilbratte is also known for his mentorship of both students and fellow faculty members.

Hahn, chair of the Theology Department, will be honored for his 21 years of service to UST. An expert on world religions, Dr. Hahn has taught numerous theology courses dealing with scripture and world religions. His knowledge of this area has often been called upon to help with the annual Lenten Lecture Series, where he has served as guest speaker for the last several years. Hahn says he chooses to teach because “communicating knowledge is thrilling.” A Kansas native, Hahn earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in English at Emporia State University. After earning his Master of Arts in theology at the Aquinas Institute of Theology, he went on to do his doctoral work in theology at Marquette University in Milwaukee.
