UST Nursing Alumna Speaks at Nursing Success Center Workshop
“A Day in the Life” of being a nurse – was the topic of conversation at the Nursing Success Center’s October workshop. Pre-nursing students had an opportunity to visit with guest speaker Barbara Reece, RN, MS, NEA-BC, experienced nurse, nursing administrator and nursing alumna of UST.

Reece is currently the Associate Administrator and Chief Nursing Officer at LBJ Hospital in the Harris County Hospital District.

“The opportunity to engage in dialogue with a nurse leader of Ms. Reece’s stature is an amazing opportunity for our pre-nursing students,” said UST’s Nursing Program Development Director, Dr. Poldi Tschirch. “As a 1977 graduate of the UST School of Nursing, she is a role model and inspiration to our students.”

The School of Nursing is working in partnership with Harris County Hospital District, and students will have clinical rotations at LBJ Hospital in a number of their clinical courses.

Twenty pre-nursing students attended the workshop. The Nursing Success Center plans to offer several workshops for pre-nursing students each month focused on building relationships with faculty and clinical partners.
