Ulmer, who formerly worked as a program coordinator and advisor at the University of Houston-Clearlake branch, will work specifically to increase the transfer enrollment rate of Houston Community College students to the UST campus. As part of the Hispanic Serving Institution STEM grant the University received from the U.S. Department of Education, Ulmer said she hopes to increase the percentage of Hispanic students on campus, especially in the STEM fields of biology, biochemistry, bioinformatics, chemistry and nursing.

“My goal here is to not only increase the number of students coming to campus, but also to increase the number of students we are retaining and graduating,” Ulmer said. “I want to see students become successful.”
