UST Volleyball Competed Against Invitational Host
UST VolleyballThe University of St. Thomas volleyball team competed well during the weekend of the Texas Wesleyan Lu Allen Invitational from Aug. 24-25, but all the results landed in the loss column.

The Lady Celts opened Saturday morning on Aug. 25 with a match versus Wiley College. The team came up just short of a win in the five-set match 20-25, 25-18, 19-25, 25-23 and 13-15.
Stephanie Biediger posted a double-double in the match with 17 kills, two service aces and 12 digs.

“I think Stephanie played well all around and figured out ways to score,” said St. Thomas Head Coach Kallie Noble. “Lauren Curley had a good weekend and was better offensively and showed improvement from last year. Brittany Weiler and Reagan Creely also had a solid weekend for us.”

In the second match of the day, the Lady Celts played invitational host Texas Wesleyan University. The close five-set match left UST with another loss 19-25, 25-20, 25-14, 22-25 and 8-15.

Shirley Paul led the Lady Celts with 12 digs, while Brittany Weiler added 11 digs and 13 assists.

Next, St. Thomas will take on Huston-Tillotson at home at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 30. The match will be one of five matches for the UST Labor Day Tournament, hosted by St. Thomas.
