Image: Alumni Memorial MassIn memory of beloved University of St. Thomas alumni, faculty and staff who have passed away, the University will hold the Third Annual Alumni Memorial Mass. Alumni Relations encourages friends and members of the St. Thomas community to honor the impact of those who have passed away in the last year.

The Mass is at 11 a.m. on Nov. 10 in the Chapel of St. Basil, 3802 Yoakum Blvd. Following the Mass, attendees are invited to a reception at noon in the Malloy Board Room, 3817 Mt. Vernon Blvd.

Also, the Rev. James Keon, CSB, former UST philosophy professor known for his storytelling, passed away on Oct. 24 and will be remembered at the Mass. A separate memorial dedicated to remembering Father Keon also will be held later in November. Details are forthcoming.

During the reception, 23 white roses will be arranged to represent each member of the UST community that has passed this year.

Lauren LaGrappe, assistant director of Alumni Relations, said the Mass is an occasion to celebrate the lives and impression these people made on UST. She also shows deep gratitude to the Memorial Mass Committee who helped plan the event.
“Our University was founded by the Basilian Fathers and is dedicated to educating leaders of faith and character,” LaGrappe said. “It only seems fit that the Memorial Mass Committee decided four years ago to dedicate a Mass for alumni, faculty and staff. The Alumni Relations team would like to thank the Memorial Mass Committee for all their hard work and dedication to the Mass.”

Join the UST community in remembering those who have passed. To RSVP and notify the specific person in whose memory you will be attending, contact Alumni Relations at 713-942-3407.

Parking is available for $2 in the Moran Center Parking Garage, 3807 Graustark. Free parking is available in campus surface lots. The event is free and open to all UST alumni.
