WBB Celts Drop Regular Season Finale

Photo: Amber Arceneaux-FrancisThe University of St. Thomas women’s basketball team dropped an 89-62 decision to Wiley College on Feb. 25. UST finished the regular season with a 15-15 overall record and 11-11 in the Red River Athletic Conference.

Amber Arceneaux-Francis led the Celts with 26 points and 14 rebounds while Maghen Lormand chipped in with 11 points.

“Our effort was better tonight,” said Head Coach Mike Ricks. “We really picked it up – especially on the boards, but obviously we still have some work to do if we want to beat a team like Wiley.”

Next up for the Celts is their first-ever appearance in the Red River Athletic Conference Tournament, where they will play Louisiana State University-Shreveport at 10 a.m. on March 1.

Ricks knows his team will need to play its best game of the year if it plans to advance.

“It’s win or go home,” Ricks said. “We will have to play a complete game on both sides of the ball if we want to win, but I believe we are capable of doing just that.”
