On a three-game run, the University of St. Thomas men's basketball team won its third game in five days on Dec. 17 in Hobbs, N.M. Defeating University of the Southwest 86-59, the win was the team’s second straight Red River Athletic Conference road game, which brings them to No. 4 in the conference.

The University of St. Thomas men’s basketball team sailed to 5-1 on the season after a 63-54 win against Wayland Baptist University on Nov. 20 in Plainview, Texas. The 5-1 start is the best UST has had in their first four years back on the hardwood. With the win, the men keep their No. 1 ranking in the Red River Athletic Conference.

The Northwood Fall Shootout was held at Tangle Ridge Golf Course in Dallas, Texas, and featured a very strong National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics field with nine of the Top-25 teams in the country teeing it up.

She will receive the award at a conference in Las Vegas in March with 21 other student affairs professionals from across the country.

The award was given on Oct. 1 for the segment “Grave Injustice,” which won a News and Documentary Emmy for Outstanding Continuing Coverage of a News Story in a News Magazine.

Ortiz, a U.S. Army Air Cavalry Officer, was injured on June 20 or 21 when the helicopter he was piloting crashed while returning to base after a combat mission in Afghanistan.

After being flown to Walter Reed Hospital in Washington, D.C. last Monday, Ortiz received a visit from President Barack Obama on June 28.
