Flynn Center for Irish Studies, during its annual Irish Gala on Nov. 22 at The Houstonian Hotel. Celebrating the Center’s 10th anniversary, the gala honored Rev. and Mrs. Harold Good, members of the international community from Belfast, Northern Ireland, who have been instrumental in building and maintaining peace around the world. Rev. Good is a former president of the Methodist Church in Ireland.

Over 70 students, faculty, guests and friends braved the chilly night sleeping outside to raise awareness about homelessness.

When Theodore Bitty graduated from high school, he knew he wanted to make a difference in his community in West Africa—he wanted to create jobs and have a positive impact on the economy. With that in mind, Bitty moved to Houston where he earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from the University of Houston and is currently working on his Masters of Science in Finance at the University of St. Thomas.

The Greater Houston Business Ethics Roundtable recognized University of St. Thomas Master of Business Administration students, Britani Nielsen and Carla Rodriguez, as 2013 emerging leaders. The GHBER Bette Stead Scholarship is a $3,000 award applied toward tuition. The scholarship was awarded by Rick Chapman, the Assistant General Counsel for the Anti-Corruption and International Compliance Law Department at Halliburton.

In its third straight win, the University of St. Thomas women's basketball team defeated Southwestern Assemblies of God University on Jan. 5 in Waxahachie, Texas. The Celts jumped out to an early lead and never looked back in the 77-56 victory.
