Franciscan Sisters of the Eucharist
The Franciscan Sisters of the Eucharist who live on campus joined the UST community in 1999 at the invitation of Father J. Michael Miller, CSB then President of the University. Father Miller wanted the visible witness of a community of Religious women to be an integral part of the UST family. Three sisters are employed by the University; one works at Catholic Charities of Houston. However all the sisters are very much a part of the life and happenings here on campus, particularly through the direction of the Augustine Without Walls Program, a program that strives to integrate Faith, Academics and Life.
Sister Paula Jean Miller is a professor of theology who founded and directs the UST Catholic Studies Program. Sister Mary Roberta Connors is Pastoral Care Coordinator of Campus Ministry. Sister Damien Marie Savino is Chair of Environmental Science and Studies and teaches in the Catholic Studies Program. Sister Veronica Schueler is an attorney practicing law before the Immigration Court and the Immigration Service.
