American Catholic Philosophical Association
The University of
St. Thomas is the new home of the American Catholic Philosophical Association, which is the major association for Catholic philosophers in the United States and
Canada . The organization was founded in 1926 and includes members who are experts in every major field of philosophy. The move to UST is a historic shift, as the ACPA has been previously based in two universities in the Eastern United States, namely The Catholic University of America and
Fordham
University . The move to
Houston follows UST’s successful application to the ACPA Executive Council in Fall 2006. The Council also approved the appointment of Thomas Osborne, Assistant Professor of Philosophy in the Department of Philosophy and the Center for Thomistic Studies, as the organization’s Secretary.
