Students Attend Harvard Social Enterprise Conference

Freshmen students Elena Petre and Alison Solis represented the UST Social Entrepreneurship Program at the 13th annual Harvard Social Enterprise Conference in Boston, Mass. in February 2012, one of the world’s premiere social enterprise summits recognized by Forbes, the World Economic Forum and the Clinton Global Initiative. The Management and Marketing Department in the Cameron School of Business prepares students for careers in a broad array of industries. The skills and knowledge acquired are applicable across industries and may lead to careers in areas such as public relations, managing human resources, strategic marketing, operations management and many others.

The marketing major provides specialized knowledge and skills for those students seeking careers in promotion, sales, advertising or other areas of marketing.

The general business major provides a strong business background and gives students a choice of specialized coursework in accounting, economics, finance, marketing, management and decision and information sciences.

Both marketing and general business are also available as minors, to supplement the skills and knowledge acquired in other major areas of study.

General Business
The general business major gives students a diversified business background without an extensive concentration in any single field. The program provides flexibility by permitting advanced work in at least three of the following areas:

  • Accounting
  • Economics
  • Finance
  • Management
  • Marketing
  • Decision and information sciences

Marketing
The marketing major provides an understanding of fundamental concepts, principles, theories, tools and techniques in the following areas:

  • Marketing management
  • Product design and development
  • Distribution
  • Pricing
  • Promotional techniques and strategies
