Former UST employee Lisa Emmite Baker, a volunteer with the nonprofit organization Eternal Threads, will return to campus to sell free trade items hand-crafted by women in developing countries on August 30.

The late Dr. Gustavo Wensjoe, former director of the University of St. Thomas Center for International Studies, was posthumously honored by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Peru at a reception on June 2.
|International Studies Honor Society Inducts 25 Members |
Sigma Iota Rho, Alpha Phi, UST's chapter of the national honor society in International Studies, held its 15th installation of members on Tuesday, March 29, 2011. Twenty five new members joined the society, including the first MLA graduate students specializing in International Studies.

The Peruvian Educational Project (PEP), in conjunction with the Graduate International Studies Group (GIS) at the University of St. Thomas, will host Kermese! Family Day and Fun Run on May 7.
|Talk With Your Advisor About New Core Curriculum for Fall 2011 |
UST has made changes to the core curriculum to better integrate the core curriculum with academic majors. It is strongly recommended that every student meet with an academic advisor to determine which core curriculum track is most appropriate for the student’s individual course of study.

Dr. Hans Stockton, director of the University of St. Thomas Center for International Studies, hosted the annual Chinese New Year celebration of the Houston Taipei Society on Feb. 25.

The University of St. Thomas Center for International Studies will host Mosaics of Faith: The Turkish Experience, a two-day event that explores the rich culture of Turkey. The conference will be held all day Tuesday-Wednesday, March 1-2 on the UST campus.
