News at the Center
SEP Students Find Inspiration at Harvard Conference
Three students represented University of St. Thomas’ Social Entrepreneurship Program at the 15th annual Harvard Social Enterprise Conference in Boston, Mass., in March. This was the second time students have represented UST at the conference.

Pecten Scholarships Benefit International Studies Students
Four recipients of the Pecten Chemical Scholarship in International Studies enjoyed lunch with the scholarship’s founders, Marilyn and Don Ullrich, on May 1.  Created in 1989 with a $500 gift, the Pecten Scholarship has grown to be the largest endowed scholarship for students in the Center for International Studies. 

International Festival Brings the World to UST
The 11th Annual International Festival at the University of St. Thomas brought the world to UST for an evening of fun, food and cultural displays.  An estimated 700 attendees from campus and the greater community came out to enjoy a taste of the world, ranging from Brazilian samba, traditional Polish dancing, Argentine empanadas and Saudi Arabian tea with cultural displays representing more than 25 countries on April 24th.

Established in 1981, the Center for International Studies is Houston's oldest degree-granting center of international higher learning. International Studies prepares students for careers in international business, law, politics and public service. In addition, the Center promotes understanding of international relations, cultural differences and the benefits that come from cooperation within the human family.
