Taiwan
Taiwan
Tawain Study AbroadTaiwan is a fascinating place due to its heritage and struggle for political autonomy. Chinese and Japanese cultures have both influenced Taiwan. Increasingly Western culture is playing a part in Taiwan. Baseball is Taiwan’s national sport, and basketball is also an important spectator sport. Though it originated in Japan, karaoke is popular among the Taiwanese.

Taiwanese cuisine, music and film are becoming more distinct and world-renowned. Ang Lee, director of Life of Pi, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and Sense and Sensibility, is Taiwanese and made his first films there. Edward Yang and Tsai Ming-Liang’s films have also won international acclaim.
