The School of Arts and Sciences is home to a diverse group of departments, centers and programs. Subject areas taught include humanities (such as philosophy and literature), natural sciences (such as biology and chemistry), social sciences (such as psychology and political science) and mathematics. Rooted in the Catholic tradition of liberal arts, the School of Arts and Sciences is committed not only to respecting the distinctive contributions of each academic discipline but also to seeking a higher synthesis of knowledge grounded especially in the mutually enriching dialog between faith and reason.
