The University of St. Thomas’s Music Preparatory School saw record numbers in student enrollment and donations for the 2015 summer camps. There were 180 students who participated in the UST Music Preparatory School’s seven summer camps in summer 2015. Read more

Alumnus Feels the Beat with Music Career

Walter Suhr, UST alumnus, has been making the citizens of Houston dance to the rhythms of his band, Mango Punch! for nearly 25 years. Their music reflects the diversity of Houston as the musicians play music from the 40s and 50s, the top 40 charts, Cumbia and Latin music. Read more

Sacred Music Masterís Prepares Leaders of Faith

A new Master in Sacred Music degree will be offered at the University of St. Thomas in the fall 2015 semester. The MSM program prepares students for pastoral liturgical music ministry. This program focuses on Roman Catholic traditions, but also incorporates traditions of other denominations. Read more

The University of St. Thomas Music Department presented a Night of Scenes from Musical Theater and Operetta on Oct. 24-26, 2014. Students performed songs and scenes from the Musical Theater and Operetta repertoire. Learn More

Solomon Featured as African American Composer

Dr. Malcolm Solomon, associate professor of music at the University of St. Thomas, is a composer featured in the showcase, “Honoring the African American Artist and Composer” on Friday, Feb. 21. Read more

Music students at the University of St. Thomas have quality performance opportunities within the rich and diverse backdrop of a liberal arts curriculum. Students enjoy small classes, which allows more time for individual interaction with their professors. University of St. Thomas music alumni are in graduate schools, performing professionally and teaching and leading church music programs all over the country.

The Music Department at the University of St. Thomas provides students with a comprehensive background in music theory, music history and performance. With an emphasis on Western music, students participate in performances concentrating on vocal and instrumental music. Music Preparatory School
