Finance Degree Programs


Economics and Finance

The Department of Economics and Finance offers four degree programs:

  • Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Finance
  • Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Economics
  • Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance/Master of Business Administration (BBA/MBA)
  • Master of Science in Finance (MSF)

Additionally, the department also offers minors for undergraduate students in economics and finance.

BBA in Finance

The finance degree program provides a solid body of theoretical and practical knowledge of domestic and international finance in the areas of corporate finance, risk management, investments, portfolio management, financial markets, financial planning, financial forecasting and financial institutions. The program prepares students for careers in the field of finance including:

  • Commercial banking
  • Financial management
  • Risk management
  • Portfolio management
  • Post-baccalaureate study in business or law.
BBA in Economics

The economics degree program exposes students to social science concepts central to business and governmental decision-making, society’s allocation of resources, international relations among competing economies and ethics in commerce. The economics program encompasses micro and macroeconomics, international economics, money and banking, labor markets, cost benefit analysis, economic development and theory. Career opportunities for economics majors include the following:

  • Economic research
Master of Science in Finance

The MSF is designed to serve the needs of working professionals in the finance field. It also prepares candidates for taking the Certified Financial Analyst (CFA) exam. Careers after graduation include:

  • Financial analyst
  • Financial planner
  • Commercial bank manager
  • Budget analyst
  • Financial consultant
  • Business valuation analyst
  • Portfolio analyst
  • Foreign exchange analyst
  • Real estate developer

Excluding proficiency courses, MSF students are required to take 30 credit hours in the program. This includes 24 credit hours of core courses and six credit hours of elective courses. The maximum number of proficiency courses required for students without prior business courses is 10.5 credit hours.
