Nursing Admissions

Nursing Admissions

The deadline for the fall 2016 cohort has passed. The next cohort will begin fall 2017 with an application deadline of June 1, 2017.

The Carol and Odis Peavy School of Nursing admits students each fall. Admission is a two-step process in which students must be admitted to UST to be considered for admission to the School of Nursing.

UST’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is a four-year program. Incoming freshmen will begin pre-requisites during their first year and apply to the School of Nursing at the end of their freshman year.  Transfer students with some pre-requisites already completed can graduate in as little as 3 years.*

*Students with more than 60 hours of transferrable, college-level credit and all pre-requisite classes complete (see Transfer Nursing Guide) will have at least 9 hours of elective credit during the program and may want to consider a minor. For more information and to review your transfer credits, please contact our Nursing Admissions Coordinator, Cathy Ruhnke.

Students admitted to the UST Carol and Odis Peavy School of Nursing will be subject to participation requirements established by healthcare organizations that host student clinical rotations, which include criminal background checks, CPR certification and specific immunizations. These requirements may also include verification of identity and compliance with federal immigration law.

High-Performing High School Seniors

High-performing high school seniors interested in pursuing a nursing major will be reserved a space in the BSN Program upon acceptance into UST as freshmen. Criteria for this consideration include:

  • Overall GPA of 3.5 or higher, based on a 4.0 scale
