The University of St. Thomas offers several scholarship opportunities for incoming freshman. Merit-based scholarships are awarded to high-achieving students to reward diligence and academic distinction. In addition to scholarships provided by the University of St. Thomas, other opportunities for awards are available from independent sources. Consult your high school guidance counselor for more information about outside resources or visit the Outside Scholarships page for a list of scholarship organizations that have notified UST of their availability.

University Merit Scholarships for New Freshmen

Academically strong freshmen may qualify for renewable, merit scholarships that are based on:

  • High School GPA
  • SAT/ACT scores (combined math and critical reading)

Completing the application for admission and being accepted to the University automatically makes you eligible for scholarship consideration. Early applications to the University are encouraged, as awarding begins November 1. If awarded a University Scholarship, the Office of Admissions will notify you in writing. Your scholarship will also appear on your award letter from the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid.

 UST Eagle Scout Scholarship for New Freshmen

The University of St. Thomas will award a $1,000 annual scholarship to an incoming freshman who is an Eagle Scout. To be considered for an award, applicants should forward a one-page letter of interest to the UST Office of Admissions. In the letter, applicants should describe both their Eagle Scout project and leadership skills. Applicants must have an SAT score of 1100 (combined critical reading and math) or ACT score of 24. Applicant must also have a high school GPA of at least 3.0. The deadline for applicants is April 15.

UST Girl Scout Gold Award Scholarship for New Freshmen

The University of St. Thomas will award a $1,000 annual scholarship to an incoming freshman who is a Girl Scout Gold Award recipient. To be considered for an award, applicants should forward a one-page letter of interest to the UST Office of Admissions. In the letter, applicants should describe both their Gold Award project and leadership skills. Applicants must have an SAT score of 1100 (combined critical reading and math) or ACT score of 24. Applicant must also have a high school GPA of at least 3.0. The deadline for applicants is April 15.

V.J. Guinan Presidential Scholarship

The V.J. Guinan Presidential scholarship affords full tuition to incoming freshman students who excel academically and uphold the Catholic mission of the University. Candidates are Catholic students who are serious about attending a Catholic university in order to strengthen their Catholic identity and faith. The selection committee will interview applicants to determine their commitment to living the Basilian core values and contributing to religious life on campus.

To be considered, a separate application must be submitted along with certain application materials. Certain eligibility requirements apply. The Guinan Scholarship Application is available for submission.
