Outside Scholarships


In addition to University scholarships and federal financial aid, UST encourages students to pursue outside scholarship opportunities. Please keep in mind that you should never have to send an application fee when applying for a scholarship.

Once awarded, outside scholarship funds are mailed to our office and posted to your student account. When you have been awarded an outside scholarship, communication with our office is important. Please have your outside scholarship donors mail the scholarship check(s) made payable to the University of St. Thomas (along with any correspondence) to:

Abbott and Fenner Scholarship Program

Abbott & Fenner Business Consultants will be awarding up to $1,000 to the winner(s) each year.

Scholarship Deadline   -  June 15, 2015.

Astanza Q-Switched Laser Annual Scholarship

Description: Astanza is the leading aesthetic laser manufacturer specializing in Q-switched laser technology. Astanza’s advanced tattoo removal laser systems are chosen by physicians and leading medical practices for their efficacy and reliability. They have established their annual scholarship to support students entering the fields of medicine, nursing, engineering, physics, biology, and applied sciences. The $2,500 scholarship will be awarded once each year.

Eligibility: US citizens or permanent residents with a minimum GPA of 3.0 enrolled or planning to enroll in an accredited college or university in the upcoming semester.

Charles, Lela and Mary Slough Foundation Scholarship

The Slough Scholarship awards up to $5,000 per year ($2,500 per Fall and Spring semesters) for a total of 5 years or the completion of a Bachelor’s Degree, or a total accumulation of 136 semester hours or 36 credits, whichever comes first. Smaller amounts may be awarded on a one-time basis with no guarantee of future awards. All applications must be submitted online ONLY. Please click link above to access application.

Is interested in helping students who demonstrate a strong aptitude for learning, and have a drive to improve themselves, and society in general.  Winners will be determined by our executive team each spring and fall semester.


Diet Spot Light Scholarship

2015 is the third year of their scholarship program and they are offering an essay contest where students can share their ideas on obesity. The application deadline is December 31, 2015 and they will be giving away four awards – one for $3,000 and three for $1,000.

The Drive To Learn Scholarship provided by Shift Insurance

In an effort to contribute to the community, we have started a small scholarship fund for full time college students. Our goal is to provide this award to students on an annual basis.


The Expert Institute's Healthcare and Life Sciences Scholarship

Without the technical insights provided by members of the healthcare and life science communities, attorneys would not be able to effectively seek justice for their clients. Healthcare and life science professionals have become an essential part of American justice. In recognition of these vital contributions to the practice of law, The Expert Institute is offering a $1000 scholarship to students in medicine and the life sciences.


Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Must be actively pursuing a degree related to healthcare or the life sciences.
  • A minimum 3.0 GPA.

Flosum 2015 Scholarship

This is a new $750 scholarship award open to pursuing or intending to pursue their bachelor’s degree which can be in the fields of computer engineering, computer science or in another technical discipline such as electrical engineering, physics or mathematics with an interest in the field of computer science. Graduate Programs Foundation

JUNIORS & SENIORS:  Graduate Programs will award $1,000 scholarships to pre-grad students who are current undergraduates (Juniors and Seniors) in an accredited institution who are thinking of applying to Grad school, or are recent college graduates who are thinking about going to Grad school. In order to apply, the student must provide some basic information and a “Statement of Purpose.”

Award: $1,000/quarterly

GRAD:  Graduate Programs will award $1,000 scholarships to current graduate students and $1,000 toward student loan payments for recent grads within the last five years. To apply, Rate and Review your graduate school program on our website and enter our quarterly scholarship drawing.

Graduate Programs Pre-Grad Scholarship

Graduate Programs will award $1,000 scholarships to pre-grad students who are current undergraduates (Juniors and Seniors) in an accredited institution who are thinking of applying to Grad school, or are recent college graduates who are thinking about going to Grad school. In order to apply, the student must provide some basic information and a “Statement of Purpose.”

2015 Grasshopper Entrepreneur Scholarship

Grasshopper will award one (1) $5,000 scholarship for the best submitted entry determined by our judges. The scholarship will be awarded in check form, made payable directly to the university that the winner is, or will be, attending for a school term in 2015.

Deadline to apply: Thursday, April 30th, 2015

Eligibility Requirements: Any current college student or incoming freshman enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in a Spring, Summer, or Fall 2015 semester. Student must be enrolled at an accredited American college, university or trade school.  For application and more information click here
Hellenic Professional Society of Texas

Each year the Society awards scholarships to qualified undergraduate and graduate full-time students. Applicants are eligible for a scholarship if they are currently attending or have been accepted by a college or university in Texas, have shown excellent scholastic performance in their corresponding field of study and are of Hellenic heritage. The Society also accepts applications from students of non-Greek descent that have demonstrated clear, strong and sustained excellence in academic studies related to Greek letters or affairs.

Learn.org Student Saver Scholarship


Learn.org's Student Saver shares daily tips and tricks about saving money in college with their student readers, but they want to go further to help you manage the rising cost of getting a higher education. That's why they're offering the $1000.00 Student Saver Scholarship, to reward all of you savvy Student Savers for your hard work and creative ideas for making college more affordable. They also have a variety of annual academic scholarships that may be of interest to your students. Information about our academic scholarships is available here. The deadline to apply for these scholarships is also April 1.


MassMutual Scholars Program

A national scholarship program for high achieving college students interested in pursuing careers in the insurance and financial services industry.

Applications for the MassMutual Scholars Program are open until March 31, 2015 at 4:30 p.m. CST

In 2015, MassMutual looks forward to assisting at least 30 undergraduate students with a scholarship worth up to $5,000. Students:

  • Must be entering their sophomore, junior, senior, or fifth year of undergraduate coursework.
  • Must have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.

Should be interested in pursing a career in the insurance or financial services industry

Is giving out ten (10) scholarships to deserving students in colleges and universities throughout the United States. It is our hope to help the educational efforts of students while raising awareness for mesothelioma and its cure.


The Mesothelioma Cancer Alliance Scholarship

The Mesothelioma Cancer Alliance is proud to award $4,000 to one student each semester whose life has been impacted by cancer.

The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to college students in their pursuit of higher education. If you’ve battled a form of cancer yourself, or witnessed a loved one receiving treatment, we want to hear your story.

Mometrix College Scholarship

The first ever Mometrix College Scholarship with prizes of $5,000, $2,000 and $1,000. In order to enter, students must submit an essay of no more than 350 words telling us about their favorite test preparation practices and why they work so well. Essays will be accepted between now and May 22, 2015 at our scholarship page (www.mometrix.com/collegescholarships).

This scholarship is open to enrolled students with an interest in finance, economics, and trading stocks. To apply, students may submit an essay by following the instructions on the pennystocks.net website

Resume Companion

Resume Companion is offering a $1000 Scholarship - available each semester to one talented student who can write the best resume based on the life of any fictional or non-fictional character.


Scholar Launch

8 scholarships available ranging from $1,000 - $10,000

Scholar Launch connects private businesses offering scholarships with Universities eager to inform their students of available scholarship opportunities.

Many students seeking scholarships are simply not aware of those being offered by the private sector.  This is where Scholar Launch enters the picture. We work for select private businesses to maximize the public awareness of their company scholarship, often times by helping Universities to effectively promote the scholarship to their students.  Please use the link above to read about the eight scholarships and the eligibility criteria.


Scholarship Guidance

1. Scholarship Points - $10,000 – 1 Award (Deadline: February 20, 2015)

Student Eligibility:

A) Must be attending an accredited post-secondary institution by the fall of 2015 at the latest.

B) Must be enrolled or planning to enroll in a program that is at least two years in length.

2. MCO Scholarship - $500 – 1 Award (Deadline: May 15, 2015)

Student Eligibility:

A) Be attending college or university no later than December of 2015.

B) Be attending college or university on a full-time basis by December of 2015.

C) Submit an answer to the essay question no later than 11:59 PM EST on May 15, 2015.

D) Be currently in your last year of high school or a freshman, sophomore, or junior in college/university

3. Global Lift Equipment Scholarship - $500 – 1 Award (Deadline: June 15, 2015)

Student Eligibility:

A) Be currently attending or planning on attending a post-secondary institution in Canada or the US by September of 2015.

B) Submit a short story. Detailed instructions can be found on the application page.

C) Have a GPA of 2.5 or greater.

4. Lifestyle Dentistry Scholarship - $500 – 1 Award (Deadline: June 30, 2015)

Student Eligibility:

A) Be attending college or university no later than September 30th, 2015. Current High School Seniors who will graduate in 2015 are eligible. You can be enrolled in any field of study.

B) Submit answers to the essay question, which can be found on the application page, prior to the June 30th, 2015 deadline.

C) Have a GPA of 2.5 or greater.

The mission of Study.com is to make education accessible, and this is done in part by offering these academic scholarships. They also produce original lessons that students can use as study aids, and articles to help students learn more about majors and career options.

Study.com is accepting applications for its academic scholarships through April 1, 2015. We hope that you’ll pass along these scholarship opportunities to your students so that they could be awarded between $500 and $1,000 to put towards their education.

Since 2000, TG has been proud to support a grant program designed to provide help to students pursuing higher education who have financial need.

U.S. Department of State Critical Language Scholarship Program

A program of the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, the Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Program offers intensive summer language institutes in thirteen critical foreign languages. The selection process is administered by American Councils for International Education with awards approved by the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.

The Verbal Ink Transcription Services Scholarship

Each year, the Verbal Ink Transcription Services Scholarship awards a $1,500 scholarship to a graduating high school senior or current college freshman. The scholarship will be renewable each year for up to four years, provided that the award recipient maintains a 3.0 GPA or equivalent and completes the minimum number of credit hours required to be a full-time student each academic year.

Eligibility and Requiments

The applicant must meet at least one of the following three requirements (see scholarship package for additional requirements):

  • A legal resident of Harris County, Texas or one of the contiguous counties surrounding Harris County. These counties are Galveston, Brazoria, Fort Bend, Waller, Montgomery, Liberty, and Chambers.
    • or –
  • A member of the Texas A&M Corps of Cadets.
    • or –
  • A member in good standing of the Commemorative Air Force. (see package for details)
