UST On The Road- Freshmen

The University of St. Thomas understands that the application and admissions process can be challenging for first-time freshman. The Office of Undergraduate Admissions has designated freshman counselors to guide you through your application. You can contact your counselor with questions regarding UST’s academic degrees and programs, how to apply, scholarships and financial aid, university housing or any other concerns.

Marcos CanalesHello. My name is Marcos Canales, and I am a Freshman Admission Counselor at the University of St. Thomas. I earned a B.A. in Sociology, and M.S. in Education with an emphasis on student services. I have been working in higher education for over ten years. During my career, I’ve dedicated myself to helping college students realize their potential for success, and I’m excited to be a part of a school that also has a passion for helping people achieve their academic goals.

Attending college can be an exciting adventure, and my role as an admissions counselor is to make sure that the transition from high school to the University of St. Thomas goes as smoothly as possible for incoming students. Jessica CorrellHello, my name is Jessica Correll and I am a Freshman Admissions Counselor at the University of St. Thomas. I earned a B.B.A in General Business Administration and am currently pursuing my M.S. in Accounting from St. Thomas. Working with high school students during the college search is exciting, energizing, and unbelievably rewarding. I am thrilled to be your St. Thomas resource during this exciting time of your life! I remember my concerns as an incoming freshman and those special people who helped me through the transition. I aim to provide the same service to all students interested in attending the University of St. Thomas.

Nikki Miller

My name is Monica Martinez and I’m a Freshman Admissions Counselor at the University of St. Thomas. As a first generation student, I greatly valued the assistance my college counselor provided me when applying to college.  I am very excited to now switch roles and provide students assistance transitioning into the University of St. Thomas.  My experience with both private and public universities helps me better serve our students in choosing the best college fit for them and their families.

I earned a B. S. in Psychology from the University of Houston-Downtown and have worked in higher education for six years with various departments including Admissions, Orientation and Special Events.

Nikki MillerHello! My name is Nikki Miller and I’m a Freshman International Admissions Counselor at the University of St. Thomas.  I earned a B.A. and M.A. in Sociology with an emphasis on community studies.  My education and travel experiences have given me an appreciation for learning and diversity, which can both be found at UST.  I enjoy working with students and want to ensure that they have a successful college experience.

Emily Stickle

Emily StickleHello, my name is Emily Stickle!  I am the Home School Admission Counselor at the University of St. Thomas.  During my undergraduate I earned a B.A. double majoring in Political Science and Psychology and recently completed my Masters in Liberal Arts in Public Administration at the University of St. Thomas.  As a former home school student myself, I understand the value of student directed learning especially when attending college and I will be here to answer any of your questions. 

The college admission process can at times seem daunting however my role as an admissions counselor is to ensure that application process to the University of St. Thomas is an easy as possible.  Many student also value the time spent visiting the campus, please contact me to learn more about the opportunities to learn more about the University of St Thomas.   I look forward to working together.
