Required to be completed by any student receiving state financial aid (i.e. TEG, Texas Work Study).  Only one application is required.  Students will see the state award on their mystthom account, after having been awarded.  Students should ONLY submit this application IF they were awarded the TEG Initial Grant.  Do not submit this application if you were not awarded TEG.

PARISH SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
The University of St. Thomas and participating Parishes of the Galveston-Houston Diocese jointly sponsor the Parish Scholarship Program, which provides scholarships to students who attend the University of St. Thomas.

Parish contributions will be matched by UST, contingent on availability of funding.  Eligible students may be freshmen, continuing UST students or transfer students.

Students who are already participating in the Parish program (received funding this prior year) need not apply.  Only students not currently receiving funding or are new to the university need to complete the Parish Scholarship Application.  DEADLINE IS APRIL 15, 2012.

RELIGIOUS ORDER DISCOUNT
Individuals who are members of select religious orders maybe eligible for the Religious Order Waiver/Discount.  *PLEASE NOTE:  Religious Order criteria have changed beginning the 2012-2013 fiscal year.  In addition, award amounts have also changed.

CONTINUING STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP

Eligibility Requirements:

• Student must be an undergraduate, not currently receiving ANY other University scholarships.

• Student must have a cumulative 2.9 gpa or higher, and attending 24 hours every year. Must have completed 24 hours, their prior

year to submitting application.

• A complete application does not guarantee an award.

• Awards are offered on a first come first serve basis.

• Must complete the FAFSA for 2012-2013 and demonstrate need based on FAFSA results.  Application Here.

ALUMNI ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP

PURPOSE:                 The University of St. Thomas Alumni Association Award assists sophomores or juniors who possess the scholastic merit and willingness to continue their education but have encountered substantial financial difficulty completing their degree.

 

TO WHOM:               Current sophomores or juniors who demonstrate a significant financial need

 

CRITERIA:                1) Financial need

2) Candidates must have a minimum 2.5 G.P.A, including Fall semester of current school year.

3) Candidates must be full-time UST students, taking 12 or more credit hours.

4) Candidates must submit a letter of reference from a faculty member. Faculty members may give the reference letter directly to the student or submit it to the office of Alumni Relations. 

5) Candidates must write a one-page essay (See Essay requirements).

6) Candidates must include an award letter from Financial Aid, if applicable. (award letter maybe printed from your mystthom account) 

 

TO APPLY:                Candidates must submit an Alumni Association Award application form, an award letter from Financial Aid, if applicable, and attach the essay referenced in part (5) above, to the Office of Alumni Relations by March 8, 2013 at 5:00 p.m. 

 

SELECTION:              The Nominations Committee of the Alumni Association Board of Directors will review the applications, interview the finalists and make recommendations to the full Alumni Board.  Final selections will be made in May. 

 

DECISION:                The Alumni Association Board of Directors will inform the successful candidates of the results and will present the award to the recipients.
