CIS Scholarships
Several Center for International Studies Scholarships are available. Please see the navigation links on the left to view the details for each scholarship.

Additional scholarships that you might consider applying for are listed below. Please be advised that some have deadlines that occur on a yearly basis. It might be helpful to note the date and check their website frequently for most updated information.

  • Critical Language Scholarship - This program offers intensive overseas study in the critical need foreign languages of Arabic, Bangla/Bengali, Hindi, Punjabi and many others. Application deadline is usually in January.

  • American Foreign Service Association (AFSA) - This ASFA Scholarship Fund offers undergraduates financial aid scholarships and high school merit awards for Foreign Service children. Applications are available on November 1, and the submission deadline is February 6 of each year.
  • "Make your Mark" Scholarship Essay Contest - This scholarship is available to inbound and outbound study abroad students and are challenged to submit a 500-word essay that answer the questions: "How will an international education help me make a difference in the World?" Essays must be submitted usually by March 1 of each year.

  • Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute Scholarship - This premier scholarship opportunity is afforded to Latino students who have a history of performing public service-oriented activities in their communities and who plan to continue in the future. The deadline for this scholarship is usually in April.

  • NSEP David L. Boren Undergraduate Scholarships - This scholarship offers a unique opportunity for U.S. undergraduates to study abroad. NSEP awards scholarships to American students for study of world regions critical to U.S. interests. This scholarship deadline is February 10, 2010.
