Admission Requirements
The requirements for admission into the Master in Liberal Arts Program include the following:
- A four-year undergraduate degree in any field of study from a regionally accredited college or university.
- An undergraduate cumulative grade point average from the degree granting institution of 2.5 or above (on a 4.0 scale).
- Official transcripts from each institution (undergraduate and/or graduate) attended sent directly to the Director of the MLA program.
- A completed application package including an essay, at least two letters of recommendation (from academic or professional sources), and a $35 application fee.
- An interview with the MLA program director. In the case of long distance or undue hardship, this interview may be conducted by phone.
A student cannot be officially admitted into the program until all the admissions requirements are satisfied. |
Additional requirements for International Students:
In addition to the admission requirements listed above, international students for whom English is a second language should submit a printed Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) computer-based version of the exam with a score of 250 or above, or iBT score of 100, or successfully complete the ELS, Level 112 exam.
Transcripts written in a language other than English must be accompanied by an official translation. International students may be required, at their expense, to have their academic credentials evaluated by an independent evaluation agency. The necessity of this will be determined once transcripts are reviewed by the MLA program. International students are individually responsible for satisfying visa requirements. |
Requirements for Visiting Students:
The “Visiting Student” classification applies to all non-degree seeking students including those who desire to enroll in graduate level courses (regular on-campus courses and/or those offered as study-abroad options). In all cases, students should demonstrate eligibility to take courses at the graduate level. Contact the MLA Program office for more information on the specific requirements that apply to visiting students. |
Admissions Deadline:
All items required for admissions to the MLA Program must be received by the MLA Program office no later than three (3) weeks prior to the start of classes for any semester.
