Freshmen Admission Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited high school or successful completion of the GED.
- Cumulative high school grade point average of 2.8 (on a 4.0 scale) or higher in a minimum of 18 college preparatory units,* including: (*1 unit equals 1 year or 2 semesters
- Four (4) units of English
- Three (3) units of social science, including one (1) unit of history
- Three (3) units of mathematics (algebra, geometry, trigonometry, or calculus)
- Three (3) units of science (including two (2) units of laboratory science)
- Two (2) units of the same foreign language
- Three (3) units of electives in college preparatory classes
- SAT: Math and Critical Reading scores must equal a minimum of 1070, with a minimum score of 500 on each Math and Critical reading.
ACT: composite score of 23 or higher, with a minimum score of 19 on each Math and English.
- High school class rank in the upper 50%, if high school attended ranks graduates.

Freshmen Admissions Process
- Completed Undergraduate Application
- Official High School Transcripts (Official transcripts must arrive in a sealed envelope from the high school)
- Official SAT or ACT scores. International students need a TOEFL score of 550 or pass the ELS 112.
- A Personal statement (An essay explaining how a UST education can benefit you and what you have to offer UST. Essay must be a minimum of one page.)
- $25 Application Fee (For Students who apply after November 1)

Committee Review
The University of St. Thomas Admissions Committee may review the file of students who do not meet the minimum admissions requirements. In reviewing a student’s file, the committee may consider the following:
- Rigor of High school curriculum (AP, IB Dual Credit courses)
- School-related activities and clubs
- References from teachers
- Family responsibilities
- First-generation college student
- Special circumstances
Students are welcome to submit any additional material that would strengthen their application. |
