"Students helping students succeed.”
The Tutorial Services Center (TSC) at UST helps students achieve success in their studies. All tutors are current students and are trained in a variety of subjects. Besides providing help in content areas, tutors help students understand general concepts; for example, what are the elements of fiction or how does a democracy differ from a republican government? Tutors will not edit writing assignments; instead, tutors will guide students through the process, pointing out problems such as unclear thesis statements, grammar errors and weaknesses in organization and development.
We recommend that students first meet with their professors during office hours to discuss any problems they may be having. Sometimes professors will require or recommend attendance at the Tutorial Services Center. Students are responsible for monitoring their own progress and seeking assistance as soon as they encounter difficulties in a subject to ensure a solid foundation on which to build and learn more complicated concepts as their studies continue.
The Tutorial Services Center offers workshops in areas such as sentence and usage errors, thesis development, the research paper process, writing a successful essay examination and identifying academic integrity issues. Please check Campus Announcements and the Tutorial Services Subjects and Schedule page for these dates.
No appointments are necessary and tutoring services are free. Please see the Tutorial Services Subjects and Schedule page.
