|Sports & Athletics|
Welcome to the Athletic Department at the University of St. Thomas. The University provides many opportunities for students to participate in a variety of physical endeavors. Students may participate in recreational sports through intramurals, sport clubs, recreational trips, fitness classes or intercollegiate athletics. Sports and athletics provide students a chance to improve mental and physical well-being while pursuing their academic goals.
Recreational Sports provide students the flexibility to develop a personal physical fitness program that fits into their own class schedule and social lives.
There are over 25 Intramural activities offered throughout the academic calendar. Students can play a basketball game of three on three at the Toyota Center before a Rockets game or join a wiffle ball match in Jerabeck after a night class.
Sports Clubs Association, SCA, offers 10 more opportunities to become an active member of campus. Baseball, fencing and women’s soccer are only three of the many teams sponsored by the SCA.
Recreational Trips are offered throughout the school year. These trips allow students to experience adventures outside of the city and enjoy Texas’ natural beauty. Past trips have included rock climbing and sailing.
If you need someone to push you through a workout, join a Fitness class. We offer cardio combo, yoga and dance fitness throughout the year.
Intercollegiate athletics is a new and growing program at St. Thomas. In only their third season, the Lady Celts volleyball team finished 20-11 and reached the NAIA National Tournament. Men’s soccer finished .500 in their second year of competition. Men’s basketball will begin in 2009-2010.
Sports and athletics are vital to the University campus life and spirit. Get involved, come join the Celts!
