Procedures for Starting a New Club
Students interested in starting a
new Sport Clubs should meet the following criteria:
-
Sufficient student interest/ participation in the sport.

Availability of facilities for practice and competition.
-
Availability of extramural competition within the region, or availability of community activities for non-competitive sports.
-
Availability of coaches and/or instructors.
-
Proposed sport not currently sponsored.
-
Acceptable risk level of sport.
-
Club president appointed to assume overall responsibility for coordination of club.

Availability of funds to meet necessary expenses.

Procedures for Petitioning to Become a Sport Clubs
- Consult with the Sport Clubs Office for assistance in forming a new club.
- Review contents of Sport Clubs Handbook and be committed to following all rules and regulations.
- Arrange with President of the Sport Clubs Association to be placed on meeting agenda.
- Prepare and submit the Petition for Club Status to Sport Clubs Office one week before the Sport Clubs Association meeting.

Funding Eligibility for New Sport Clubs
Funding for new clubs is based on the level of participation, available funds, and on program needs. Money is allocated from the Sport Clubs Association budget. Teams may be classified according to the following:
- Probationary Status-granted to a forming club usually lasting one semester and includes minimum funding.
- Full Status-Funds adequate for administration, equipment, and travel.
