Tenebrae: The Franciscan Sisters of the Eucharist invite you to share in a special Holy Week prayer called Tenebrae. It is an ancient Lenten prayer held on the last three days of Holy Week. It combines the psalms and readings of Matins and Lauds. Tenebrae means darkness. It begins in a darkened church with only the illumination of a lighted 15-candle candelabra. After each psalm, a candle is extinguished until at the end only the center candle, symbolizing Christ, remains lit. The service ends at dawn and all leave in silence. Everyone is welcome.
If you would like to participate in one of the readings please email: catholicstudies@stthom.edu Thank you. |
