Access to the Cardinal Beran Library
Borrowing privileges are open to all currently enrolled students, faculty, and staff of the University of St. Thomas. Graduate School of Theology alumni in good standing retain circulation privileges. Priests and religious of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston also have circulation privileges.
- Present a current UST ID or photo ID and UST student ID number to obtain a library card.
- Books are loaned for three weeks with a maximum of two renewals.
- Fines accrue on overdue material. Renewals can be phoned in: 713-686-4345 x 282, or evening—x255. Provide your name, title of book, and call number. Send e-mail communication on circulation issues to beran@smseminary.com. It is the borrowing patron’s responsibility to return materials or renew them.
- Students also have full borrowing privileges with the Doherty Library on the UST campus.
- A UST ID is required to check out materials from that campus. Phone number: 713-525-2190.
Use of the library by those outside the UST community
- The library is a private library, supported by the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston and established to serve the communities of St. Mary's Seminary and the Graduate School of Theology.
- Recognizing the need to assist scholarly research in the area of theology, the library extends as a privilege, not an obligation, controlled use of the facilities to individuals outside the St. Mary's Seminary/Graduate School of Theology community.
- On site usage of materials is open, but circulation privileges are limited. Consult with the Librarian, 713-686-4345 x 248.
