About the Grace Program and GRACE/In Situ
GRACE is a program to train educators for Catholic schools. We are seeking graduates from around the country who have a spirit of service and a desire to grow and learn through the three components of the program: Professional Development, Spiritual Growth, and Community Living. We welcome applications from creative, generous, committed, single, young Catholic men and women.
The GRACE program is currently recruiting students for the next cohort. The most likely teaching assignment will be at a small parish school as a general classroom teacher in grades four through eight. The University of St. Thomas supports this program through a Catholic Scholarship in the form of tuition reduction.
Three applications must be completed by February 1: (1) the GRACE program application; (2) an online-application to UST graduate program in the School of Education; and (3) an application to teach in the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston sent directly to the Catholic Schools Office Human Resources Department.
Course work will start next summer. GRACE participants will move into community living space in June and begin teaching in August. Community living space is provided at former convents in the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston.
The Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston is an equal partner in the operation of the GRACE Program. The Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston is composed of ten counties in the southeastern area of Texas. It includes Harris County and the City of Houston as well as Galveston County and Galveston, the Mother Seat of the Church in Texas. The archdiocese includes eight other counties as well. Today more than 1.5 million Catholics live within the archdiocesan boundaries, making the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston the largest in the state of Texas and the eleventh largest in the United States.
GRACE is a member of the University Consortium for Catholic Education (UCCE). This consortium establishes and supports a collaborative cadre of primarily Catholic colleges and universities as they design and implement graduate teaching service programs, for the purpose of supporting Catholic/Parochial education in the United States. If the GRACE program does not meet your specific needs or interests, please consider applying for one of the other UCCE member programs.
GRACE/In Situ is designed for current Catholic educations of any age who would like to complete a master’s degree in Catholic Education. In Situ students complete the same, two-year course sequence as the other GRACE students, but they do not live in community.
