The GRACE program trains teachers for Catholic schools. It is a local effort in support of Catholic education. GRACE cohort members will complete teaching certification and a master’s degree while living in community and teaching in a Catholic school. This program is possible due to the support for Catholic school education demonstrated by the University of St. Thomas, the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston and GRACE benefactors. Though the program is largely self-supporting, recruiting, student summer conferences, and student professional development opportunities could not occur without the generosity of individuals and groups interested in sustaining a dynamic Catholic education program for all.

Lead benefactor Mr. David Harvey of Harvey Building and a University of St. Thomas board member made the gift that enabled St. Thomas to introduce the GRACE project to our Galveston-Houston Archdiocese. His interest in making sure that a Catholic education is available to all families and sustaining the long tradition of Catholic schools in the inner city areas were perfectly matched in this project. Dedicated teachers with deep spiritual conviction and profession training are an essential ingredient for a vibrant Catholic education system from kindergarten through the university level.
Be part of the excitement by being a member of the first GRACE cohort which is currently being selected with a deadline of February 1, 2008. Help spread the word about this new opportunity for Catholic ministry or consider supporting this important work with a financial contribution.
