Amanda LeCompte
 Born and raised in Houston, Amanda found out about the University of St. Thomas in a church bulletin and found its qualities appealing – “small, unique, close to home, Catholic.”
She also found out about the Honors Program and has really enjoyed her experience with it. “It is hard work, but definitely worth every minute; I loved having a group of people you could have a class with every semester as well as all of the interesting subjects and books.”
A recent UST graduate with a BS in Environmental Studies, Amanda is also a first-time expectant mom. “I finally got my dream to be barefoot, pregnant and in the kitchen (haha).” She and her husband, Brian LeCompte, Honors graduate of 2002, are expecting their child in the Fall, so for the time being, she’s focusing on relaxing and having a healthy pregnancy.
A science major involved with the Honors Program, Amanda did not have much time free during her college years, but when her schedule would permit it, Amanda likes to do crafts, enjoy nature and spend time with her family. In the future, she plans to try her hand at teaching science.
