Brian LeCompte - Honors Graduate of 2002
 Originally from Houma, Louisiana, Brian grew up in Sugar Land, Texas. He came to the University of St. Thomas because he was thinking of becoming a priest and wanted to go to a Catholic school. It didn’t take much to reel Brian into the Honors Program. “I knew I would love it from the first time I read the reading list.” He was not disappointed. “I treasure my liberal arts education and the Great Books I had the benefit of being exposed to.”
After graduating with a BA in Math and Philosophy and a minor in Theology, Brian went to the seminary for a year. He then taught high school math for three years, and now, is a geoscientist with Baker Hughes. He hopes to get a Master’s in math, continue his studies in theology and philosophy and someday earn a PhD.
When not occupied by the demands of his work, Brian likes to read, play computer games, run, play with his dog and spend time with his wife Amanda, who is also an Honors alum, a graduate of 2006. They’re expecting their first child this Fall!
What piece of advice does this Honors alumni have to leave for the Honors classes coming up? “I think everyone should join Honors and stick with it because the friends you make there can be your best friends in college. It’s the best small group of intelligent, civic-minded people on campus.” |
