Alexandria Ward - Honors Freshman
Born and raised in Houston, Alexandria attended the Westchester Academy for International Studies in the Spring Branch school district. She was quite active during her high school years, serving as Historian for the National Honor Society, Vice-President for the Medical Club, and historian for both Interact Club and French National Honor Society.
Aside from her leadership roles, she also competed in Odyssey of the Mind, the Global Enterprise Challenge and the World Affairs Council. Her impressive resume included participation in a number of musicals and plays as well.
The eldest child in her family, Alexandria balances her time between her family duties and school activities. When she has some time free, she enjoys playing the piano, reading and swimming, and spending time with her friends. She also likes watching movies, the theater and art.
Alexandria is now preparing to enter her first year at St. Thomas. Having grown up in Houston, Alexandria had heard of St. Thomas many times and had driven past it often enough. Encouraged by her friends to apply to UST, Alexandria came to visit the “beautiful campus and friendly people.”
Alexandria also interviewed for the Honors Program and will soon join her classmates in The Tribe and the City. “I wanted to be a part of the program because I like to challenge myself, and I love to learn new things,” she said. “I also love the way the program is set up; it’s small and open, and I really like the discussions and debates.”
Her plans for life after graduating from UST are still unclear, but she’s looking forward to spending the next four years here. “There are so many things that I am interested in! I hope that my first year at Saint Thomas will help me decide what I want to do with my life.” |
