Jared Mitchell - Honors Freshman
Originally from Michigan, Jared grew up in Pearland, Texas. He recently graduated in the top 5% of his class at Pearland High School. His high school resume includes membership in the National Honor Society, serving as Treasurer in the Spanish Honor Society, acting as Reporter in the Science National Honor Society, and involvement with Broadcast Journalism and Peer Buddies.
If the last name Mitchell sounds familiar, it is because Jared is the brother of our very own Honors Senior Roy Mitchell. So, it’s no surprise that Jared heard about UST and the Honors Program from his brother. “I decided to attend the university because of its strong community of students and Catholic background,” said Jared. “I chose to participate in the Honors Program because of its challenging, in-depth, and thought-provoking study of literature and philosophy.”
This incoming Honors freshman enjoys writing and recording music, playing sports and exercising. Quite an athlete, Jared plays soccer, basketball and tennis. He also plays the guitar and drums and has been recording music for the last three years. Perhaps Jared will be willing to showcase his talent at the Honors freshman orientation and wow us with the music he’s been writing. |
