Seth Huey - Honors Freshman
Born in Gainesville, Texas in 1988, Seth moved around quite often as a child. His family finally settled in Lubbock, Texas, where his parents had originally met. Seth has lived there the last 12 years and will now head to Houston.
Seth first heard of the University of St. Thomas from his grandmother, who lives in Houston and is a UST alumna. Seth revealed that “I selected St. Thomas over other prestigious private Catholic colleges because St. Thomas always granted me the warmest reception and felt most like home.”
It was on his first visit to St. Thomas that Seth found out about the Honors Program directly from Dr. Hall. “I desired to be part of this privileged group because I would be in the company of fellow academics, enjoying and utilizing their college experience to its fullest,” explained Seth.
Seth certainly understands what it means to live his life to the fullest. Having attended Christ the King Cathedral School for high school, Seth played a very active role there. He played 6-man football, basketball, threw shotput and discus, was a member of the chess club, and was Treasurer, Vice-President and President of the student body his last three years in high school. To add to his impressive resume, this well-rounded, young leader was awarded various academic honors and recently graduated Salutatorian of his class!
Though his extensive list of activities keeps him quite busy, in any free time left over, Seth indulges himself in music. “I greatly enjoy listening to music of diverse genres, as well as playing music on my cello. I also enjoy playing video games and going out with my friends to watch movies and hang out.”
We look forward to having this talented musician-athlete-scholar join the entering Honors class in the fall. After graduating from UST, he wants to attend law school. He plans to become a federal prosecutor and, ultimately, a member of the judiciary. |
